On Thursday, July 31, 2025, the controversial Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate asked to resign by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) or Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis that he proposed to resign in the midst of the speculation about the continuation of the Maharashtra Cabinet.
After the videos showing that Mr. Kokate played a Card game in the state legislature, a great political fire storm exploded.

The opposition is demanding the resignation of Mr. Kokate for his repeated words, which triggered discussions for the last few months. The NCP leader rejected the claims of playing a card game.
“I don’t want to talk about it anymore. I will talk after the investigation report (about the card game problem).” Mr. Kokate was reportedly marked by Ajit Pawar on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at his meetings in Mantalaya.
Manikrao Kokate refused to play Rummy during assembly, motivated the discussion politically
“I met with Ajitdada on my own and clarified the booth. If emotions were injured because of the card game discussion, I have recently apologized to farmers during the media interaction.” He said.
Responding to a certain interrogation, Mr. Kokate said that he did not offer to leave as a minister, nor did he want to resign by any leader of the government or the prime minister. He recently fired another order by calling the government government as “beggar” and clarified the previous controversial statements directed to the farmers.
Maharashtra Minister of Agriculture is at the top of the video showing that he has played Greek in Parliament.
“The Prime Minister expressed his discontent on the expression of the beggar. I called him and clarified the stand.
