Rupert Lowe launches new Reform rival party with bombshell 13-word statement | Politics | News

Independent MP Rupert Lowe has announced that he has formed a new political party. The Great Yarmouth MP officially launched his “national political party” Restore Britain on Friday night.
He used X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce the news in a post that reached 2.4 million views in just a few hours.
He said: “Today I’m launching Restore Britain as a national political party. Join us.”
Along with his 13-word statement, he also released a 7-minute video stating that “what is required will be incredibly painful.”
He also lashed out at Nigel Farage’s Reform UK, saying his party would not include “failed ministers” or those “tainted by past failures”.
Mr Lowe later said his party’s first priority was “controlling who comes to our country and, more importantly, who stays in our country”.
He said the party would “not just stop mass immigration but reverse it” and that every illegal immigrant would be detained and deported.
In addition to immigration, he also touched on welfare reform, starting a business, energy bills, regulation, taxes and the importance of Christian values.
Restore Britain was initially founded by Mr Lowe as a “political movement” following his ill-tempered split from Reform UK. It is now expected to act as an umbrella political party with locally based political parties as partners.
For example, Mr Lowe will stand again in the Great Yarmouth constituency alongside local party Great Yarmouth First, which will be a partner of Restore Britain.
Senior Conservative figures Susan Hall and Sir Gavin Williamson were on the advisory board of Restore Britain when it was described as a political movement.
It is unclear what Mr Lowe’s decision to establish Restore Britain as a political party means for their involvement in the project.
