Social media was abuzz with questions about a thunder-like sound or explosion shortly before 5pm on Saturday.

Brenham Fire Department said: They responded to reports of a possible explosion, but found no evidence of one occurring.

Some have speculated whether the sound came from a meteor or a sonic boom.

While the questions continued, a woman contacted FOX 26 and claimed a meteorite had hit her roof. Sherrie James said she contacted the Ponderosa Fire Department for assistance.

Fire Capt. Tyler Ellingham confirmed he responded to James’ call. The captain’s crew found what they said was an unusual rock.

Since there was no construction or trees nearby, the fire department believes the rock is part of the meteor allegedly heard around Houston.

FOX 26 contacted NASA to confirm the meteor reports, but as of this report they have not been able to confirm anything.
