Russia targets UK military satellites on weekly basis

Jonathan BealeDefense Reporter, London
Area xAccording to the President of the UK Space Command, Russian satellites follow the British military satellites.
In an interview with the BBC, Maj Gen Paul Tedman first set the level of intervention from Moscow against space -based assets from Moscow.
He said that Russia is trying to compress British military satellites with ground -based systems every week.
Last month, Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said he overshadowed satellites used by Russia’s armies.

Gen Tedman said how Russia did the same to England. He said, “They are interested in what we do and relatively fly.”
“There are loads on board that can see our satellites and try to collect information from them.”
Gen Tedman said that British military satellites were equipped with shaking technologies, but added: “We see that our satellites are permanently stuck by the Russians.”
When asked how often “weekly,” he replied. He said, since Russia’s full -scale occupation of Ukraine has been deliberate and increased. England has half a dozen special military satellite that provides communication and supervision in orbit.
In contrast, the USA, China and Russia are more than a hundred. United Russian and Chinese satellite fleet has increased by 70% in the last decade.
Gen Tedman said that both Russia and China have tested anti -satellite weapons. Both Britain and the United States warned Russia to improve the ability to put nuclear weapons into space.
While the US sees China as a threat of Pacing, the Gen Tedman sees Russia as a more urgent danger: “I can say that the Chinese have a more sophisticated capability, but they have the desire to use the Russians against the opposite system systems.”
Gen Tedman said that he was “really worried about what happened in space – not just threats, but increasing congestion. Currently, there are about 45,000 objects with approximately 9,000 satellites in orbit. This year, 300 rockets will go into space.
UK MODThe General was talking about visiting Raf Fylingdales in North Yorkshire. England and America’s ballistic missile hosts the early warning system. It’s a job they’ve done since 1963.
Three famous major radoms from the Cold War period, or a “golf ball”, received a 30 -meter (98 ft) pyramid with thousands of antennas.
Apparently, a spaceship landed in North Yorkshire Moors, surrounded by a sheep, electric environment fence and razor wire.
The non -disconnected eye provides 360 degree scope from the North Pole to North Africa and from the Mediterranean to Atlantic. The radar can monitor objects in the size of a tin box up to 4,800km (4,800km) to space.
Inside, heavy explosion doors and air locks tell you that he might be a target for any enemy. In the operation room, British military personnel are watching every day of the year, every day of the time.
RAF’s 2 space warning fleet passes through the exercise how they detect us a missile. It is attached to other US satellites and sensors that allow them to perceive a launch anywhere in the world.
Gen Tedman space says “a number of sports”, but in fact, England is largely dependent on America. US contractors protect Radar in Fylingdaleles.
“We know that Britain is probably threatened in a minute,” the UK officer responsible for the clock says.
The less mentioned is England’s ability to cut ballistic missiles. Currently, there is little on the way to British ballistic missile defense.

The British government promises to invest more in both space and missile defense. He’s also taking steps to defend his satellites. This week he announced that he will test the sensors to detect laser threats in space.
Both China and Russia have developed lasers that could be used to dazzle and disrupt the satellites of an enemy.
Gen Tedman said: “We have committed to deposit a billion pounds to the integrated air and missile defense, and I would be surprised if we did not have an area direction how we would defend England from very similar threats. [America’s] Golden dome. “
President Donald was talking about Trump’s plan to build a shield around the US against missile attacks.
However, the UK is in danger of staying behind in the space race. He is currently spending about 1% of his defense budget in space. On the other hand, France spends approximately 3% and 5% to the USA.
Gen Tedman wants to see the area when a higher priority is given. The authority says the UK economy depends on a space of approximately £ 450 billion. It is also a nervous system in which the armed forces of England are increasingly dependent on sensitive strikes from navigation.
The shelf reminds us why the area was so important before leaving Fylingdaleles.
If there is a real event, we are warned that we will have to leave the operation room. When we shoot, another warning comes from a ballistic missile launch and we are quickly accompanying the output.
They observe short -range ballistic missiles almost every day. Where will they not say in this case, but it is not hidden that Russia regularly fired them in Ukraine.
In 2024, more than 4,000 missiles were fired to the world. Russia was the reason for the first creation of Flyingdales during the Cold War. The threat did not go.
