Russia To Offer S400, Su57 To India During Putin’s Visit: Kremlin Spokesperson | World News

NEW DELHI: When Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit India on December 4 and 5, it will be an opportunity for the leaders of India and Russia to review the progress in bilateral relations. Before the visit of the Russian President, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the sale of additional S400 long-range anti-aircraft missiles may be on the agenda during the visit.
“It is very on the agenda and this is debatable. Our military industry is working quite well. Russian weapons constitute 36% of the Indian armed forces and I hope it will continue,” Peskov said. Russia also hopes to discuss the possibility of purchasing India’s Su-57 fifth-generation stealth fighter jet. Peskov said, “SU-57 is the best aircraft in the world. SU57 will be on the agenda.”
“As for our cooperation in the defense industry, let’s remember the famous Brahmos missiles. This is not just production or just buying and selling, but high-tech exchange and it paves the way for a truly bright future in this field of cooperation. We are developing very diverse, very complex systems. And of course we have capabilities in this sense. We are ready to share this and our experience with our Indian friends.”

Earlier, during the Dubai 2025 air show, a senior representative of Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport said it had offered India both a license for the production of air weapons for next-generation aircraft and the integration of Indian weapons. The official added that Russia and UAC have offered India the Russian-made Su-57 and a way to gradually shift production to India. As part of this, Rosoboronexport offers “technology transfer” and “technological learning of fifth-generation technologies”, including engines, optics, AESA radar, artificial intelligence elements, low signature technologies and modern air weapons.
He also confirmed that Russia is willing to work with India on a two-seat version of the aircraft. He said the proposal includes “joint development of a two-seat modification of the Su-57E or FGFA.” Meanwhile, Kremlin Spokesperson Peskov said that there was a possibility of an agreement between India and Russia on nuclear energy during the President’s visit.
“There will be a proposal for the small reactor. Russia has small and flexible reactors with significant technology. Russia has real experience in producing small reactors. We make mutual investments, joint investments, and this makes such cooperation even more valuable for our countries in terms of securing the future of this country. We are deeply involved in creating a peaceful nuclear energy sector in India, in Kudankulam, and therefore we hoped for the continuation of this project,” Peskov said.
The Russian diplomat also condemned the recent explosions in Delhi and called for cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Peskov said, “We condemn terrorism and our country has suffered a lot. We know the pain of losing people. India has faced this threat many times and we condemn terrorism. The only way to fight terrorism is through international cooperation.” he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay an official visit to India between 4-5 December at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the visit, Putin will attend the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit and hold talks with Prime Minister Modi.
