Cobra Bite Kills Snake Helpline Volunteer During Public Display in Odisha’s Balangir

BHUBANESWAR: A Snake Hall Volunteer died after a rescue operation in Odisha’s Balangir region after being bitten by a Cobra during a public screen.

Die, defined as Santosh Chanda Sahupada in the village of Sindhekela was widely known for the snake processing skills, and when the reptiles entered the settlement, it was often called by the locals.

According to eyewitnesses, Santosh was called on Wednesday evening to capture a cobra of a peasant. After recovering the reptile, he took him to the village square where he tried to show his transportation skills in front of a crowd. During the movement, Cobra bit her over the tongue.

He immediately collapsed and ran to the Bhawanipatna Hospital in critical state, but he declared that he had died shortly after doctors were accepted.

Santosh was fascinated by the courage and voluntary service. However, he triggered the concern about the dangerous practice of performance with poisonous snakes.

Wildlife experts and health officials reiterated warnings against such risky screens, stressed that cobra and other poisonous species are unpredictable and should never be used for entertainment. They called on the public to inform the forest staff and to avoid taking care of reptiles without professional training.
