Russian Su-30 fighter jet goes down in Crimea

Both pilots ejected safely from the jet, which was unarmed.

“The crew was rescued safely and evacuated by the search and rescue team on the ground. There is no threat to the lives of the pilots,” job portal RBC reported, quoting a press release issued by the defense ministry.
The Su-30, a very powerful multi-role fighter jet, was unarmed and flying without ammunition during the training flight.

However, the defense ministry did not provide information about the possible cause or other circumstances of the crash. On the evening of March 31, the An-26 military transport plane crashed in Crimea, killing all seven crew members and 22 passengers on board.
According to RIA Novosti, the An-26 “crashed into the cliff, a technical malfunction was identified as the preliminary cause of the accident.
