“Ruthless” podcast He kicked off his midterm candidate interview series with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Thursday; the program aims to help listeners learn whether hopefuls can “hang out with friends and be a decent person.”
Paxton, who is leading Republican Senate primary polls even without President Donald Trump’s endorsement, joined “Ruthless” hosts Josh Holmes, Comfortively Smug, Michael Duncan and John Ashbrook for the first of a series of critical interviews designed to educate viewers ahead of the “vital” midterm elections.
“The midterms are incredibly important, and one of the things we promise you as a listener of ‘the show’ is that we will provide you with interviews so you can get to know every candidate who matters in each of these important races,” Holmes said.

“Ruthless” also unveiled an interactive map highlighting key Senate races and linking to information and interviews about each of the candidates ahead of the GOP primary season. The map is located at: brutalpodcast.com/mapIt will be updated throughout the year.
“The purpose of this is to give anyone listening across the country a real-time, fully accessible opportunity to click into your state and look at the candidates seeking to represent you,” Holmes said.
“Ruthless” hopes the map and interview series will help listeners make more informed decisions.
“We understand that everyone in the mainstream media wants to outshine one or the other,” Holmes said. “They will tell you exactly who they think you should vote for based on the tenor of coverage for one candidate or another.”
“We approach it differently here,” he continued. “You go down, you sit down with friends, and we basically give a litmus test, and that litmus test is: can you hang out with friends? Like, can you convince the audience that you can hang out with friends and be a decent person?”
Smug added that “unlike the mainstream media,” guests on the podcast won’t face “a firing squad of liberals trying to help Chuck Schumer win the race.”

Duncan noted that several interviews, including one with Republican Texas Senator John Cornyn, are already live on the new websites.
“You’ll have all of this at hand before you vote,” Duncan said. “We’re going to have a lot more in the next eight, nine months, so it’s going to be a huge resource.”
Another hopeful for the Texas Senate primary, Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Texas, will appear next week.
“We’ll take them all,” Holmes said.
“You can take some time to get to know them through the chaotic questions that the media asks to put people on the defensive, but also to learn a little bit about their personalities. Who they are. Because ultimately, what you do in Republican politics, especially in the primaries, is that there are tons of differences between globally accepted truths within the Republican Party,” he added. “But you should know that the man or woman you send there will ultimately represent your point of view.”
