Nurse killed in three-car crash in Boher, in Co Limerick | World | News

A photo was taken of the Irish nurse who died in a three-vehicle collision on her way to work on Friday evening. Áine O’Reilly, aged in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, Co Limerick, at around 11.10pm.

The Irish Mirror newspaper reported that he was driving to Limerick’s out-of-hours GP service, Shannondoc, where he was based, when the fatal crash occurred. He was the only person in the car at the time. Áine’s funeral took place in St. Columba was buried in St. Paul’s Church on Wednesday morning before being buried in Pallasgreen cemetery. It will be held at John Baptist Church Nicker.

A RIP notice said: “Áine O’Reilly (Grove House, Pallasgreen, Co. Limerick) died tragically following a Road Traffic Accident on 13 February 2026.

“He is sadly missed by his heartbroken parents Eugene and Ann, brothers Eoin, James and Conor, sister-in-law Aisling, niece Dáire, aunts, uncles, relatives and a wide circle of friends.”

A man in his 40s who was in the second vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Hospital Limerick.

The third driver fled the scene of the accident but abandoned his vehicle.

The N24 between R505 and L1132 was temporarily closed to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out a technical examination at the scene, but has since reopened.

In an update on Sunday, police thanked the public for their “assistance” and said they were “pursuing a firm line of investigation.”
