Three Cousins Drown in Nagarkurnool; One Rescued

Hyderabad: Three children of a family fell into the pond and drowned in the agricultural pond at Mucherlapally of Urokonda Mandal in Nagarkurnool on Sunday; The tragedy was triggered by an attempt to take a selfie. A woman who intervened to help but began to drown was rescued and taken to safety.
The dead were a 15-year-old girl, her 11-year-old brother and their 15-year-old cousin. They were studying in Hyderabad and had gone to their hometown for vacation.
According to the police, the children went to the fields with their family members. While the adults were working, the children went to the pond. Locals reported that one of the children tried to take a selfie and slipped into the water.
His brother and cousin ran to help and he began to drown. Another worker named Vidya, daughter of farmer Venugopal Reddy, noticed them and tried to help but she too started choking. Rani, who was working nearby, noticed them and managed to save Vidya. Police said three children drowned in the water.
Rani alerted the family members of the three children who informed the police. Urokonda police visited the area and collected the three bodies and they were taken to the local hospital for autopsy.
