Sadiq Khan, a new report after a new London housing scandal emerged, 15 people lived in an illegal HMOs a new housing scandal emerged. The BBC has revealed a widespread black market in the rental industry, people were divided into unauthorized areas in Victoria homes.

Photos show Londona living in unhealthy houses, adults sleep in naked beds, surrounded by molds and mice. The law states that multiple occupancy houses (HMO) houses should have a license to ensure that the houses meet the gas, electricity and fire safety requirements. However, there is evidence that there may be more illegal HMOs than the legal ones in London.

In 2023, a HMO in East London saw 18 people entering a two -bedroom apartment at night and saw a large fire erupted and resulted in at least one death.

Earlier this year, the landlords Aminur Rahman and Sofina Begum were fined only £ 90,000.

According to the signs of the Letting Agency Review Site, some parts of Newham have only 75 licensed properties, but more than 700 possible HMOs.

Tower Hamlets suspects that the website is about 500 HMO, while the Council lists only 50.

According to the demands of freedom of information, only one of the three complaints brought to the agenda by tenants in the UK between 2021 and 2023 was audited by the relevant Council.

Susan Hall, the leader of Tories in the town hall, said that Express should “rollen rolling” on the scandal.

He detonated: “London’s housing crisis, where Sadiq Khan refused to make a grip on the construction of the house, directed the increase in the HMOs in our city.

“And with the increase in demand, it is natural for unscrupulous and exploitative landlords to try to make money.

“This is a disgusting practice and I feel sorry for those who have been exploited – the communities that see that this illegal HMOs appeared in their neighborhoods and transforms the street. Heads should be rolled.”

The National Home Construction Council (NHBC) figures showed that only 904 new houses were recorded in the capital with a 60% drop in the previous year in the second quarter of 2025.

The records were around 7,000 in the same quarter ten years ago.

NHBC blamed the assembly cost of the regulations and the strict affordable home quotas of Mr. Khan.

The mayor set a rule that private home builders should ensure that 35% of the houses in each development should be suitable, and the builders say it is very high to make profits.

The figures show that in the first month of the year, only 1,100 new new home in the capital, Mr. Khan has the goal of building 88,000 houses every year.
