Sajjanar Warns Cab, Auto Drivers

Hyderabad: Police will take strict action against taxi and auto drivers who refuse to travel on New Year’s Eve or charge more than the booking amount, IPS City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said on Wednesday.

In a post on social media platform X, Sajjanar made it clear that such violations will not be tolerated, especially around midnight during New Year celebrations. He warned that offenders would be punished under Section 178(3)(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

He also urged passengers to report any inconveniences they face due to being denied a ride or being overcharged. Citizens have been asked to share the vehicle number, time and location of the incident, along with screenshots of their driving details by sending the information to Hyderabad Police WhatsApp number +91 94906 16555.

The advisory is part of enhanced measures taken by Hyderabad Police to ensure safe, fair and hassle-free transportation of the public during New Year celebrations.
