Sajjanar Warns Citizens Against Sextortion Scams

HYDERABAD: City police commissioner VC Sajjanar on Monday warned citizens that AI-generated online honey traps are being distributed by cyber fraudsters on social media platforms.

He said posts containing messages like: Are you alone? Why wait any longer… Install this app. Have fun with beautiful girls and aunties. “We don’t care about your color or appearance” are not harmless ads, but traps designed to exploit vulnerable users.

Sajjanar warned, “These girls who look attractive in the videos are not real. These are clips created by artificial intelligence. If you install the applications they promote, your phone’s contacts and gallery will be taken over. During video calls, they play nude videos on the other side and record your face, which they then turn into blackmail and sexual harassment of the victims.”

He warned that victims’ bank accounts could be emptied if they gave in to the demands for fear of losing their reputation. “Behind this appeal lies a conspiracy to steal your money and reputation,” he said, adding that strict action would be taken against those who post fake ads on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and other platforms.

Sajjanar appealed to citizens not to ruin their lives by installing fake dating or video calling apps. “These ads appear at night. Be careful. If someone has already fallen into such a trap, do not be afraid of losing your reputation. Call 1930 toll-free or file a complaint immediately.” cybercrime.gov.in portal,” he advised.
