Salmonella | Recall of Peace by Chocolate and NuttyHero pistachio products

(Toronto) The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has added several Peace by Chocolate and NuttyHero products to its ongoing recall of pistachios potentially contaminated with salmonella.

The latest recall published Friday concerns Peace by Chocolate bars and chocolate assortments sold across Canada.

They may have been sold individually or as part of an assortment.

Affected products include Dubai Style Pistachio Kunafa Chocolate Bars, Peace Maker Specialty Bars, Trans Canada Trail – Peace Seeker Bars, Classic Box, Proudly Canadian Box and Assorted Filled Chocolates.

Some of the Peace by Chocolate products appear to be custom-labeled for companies including TD, Dexterra – First Onsite Property Restoration and Tri-County Regional Center for Education.

The food inspection agency also added NuttyHero nut and seed butters, including Maple Cinnamon, Crunchy Coconut and Chocolate flavors, to the list of recalled products on Friday.

Hundreds of pistachios and products containing pistachios have been recalled in Canada in recent months.

People who think they purchased recalled products should throw them away and contact a healthcare professional if they feel sick.

Even if it doesn’t look spoiled or smell bad, food contaminated with salmonella can still make you sick.

Symptoms may include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.

Young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are at particular risk of serious illness.

The full list of recalled products is available by clicking on “pistachio” on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency website.
