Pacers’ Kam Jones arrested on reckless driving, resisting police charges

Indiana Pacers rookie Kam Jones was arrested following a police pursuit in Indianapolis on Monday.
Jones, who was selected 38th overall by the San Antonio Spurs before being traded to the Pacers, was cited for reckless driving and resisting charges from law enforcement, according to Marion County arrest records.
Jones was pulled over by police around 9:50 a.m. local time, and records show he was released at 3:22 p.m. The next hearing date will be October 23 at 9 a.m.

However, Jones was reportedly uncooperative when Indiana State Police tried to pull him over for alleged erratic driving. per WTHR. Jones allegedly failed to pull over, leading to a short chase.
The young guard was reportedly going 90 mph on I-65, where the speed limit is 55 mph. When Jones finally pulled over, he reportedly told the officer he didn’t know he was speeding and also that he would be late for Pacers practice.

“We are aware of the situation regarding Kam Jones,” the Pacers said in a statement to WTHR. “We are in the process of gathering additional information and will not be making any additional comments at this time.”

Jones has yet to play a game for the Pacers and is not expected to play as the 2025-26 season begins this week with an NBA Finals rematch against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Jones, who starred at Marquette before being drafted, will not play due to a back injury. Once he is healthy, he is expected to move to the team’s G-League affiliate, Noblesville Boom.

Jones was known for his scoring ability while playing for Marquette, and finished last season second in the Big East with 19.2 points per game and second in the conference with 5.9 assists per game. He would be a unanimous selection as a second-team All-American and first-team All-Big East player before heading to the NBA Draft.
