Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday (October 25, 2025) launched a scathing attack on the Maharashtra Government over recent crimes against women and accused Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of not paying attention to the law and order situation in the state.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Raut said there was no fear of law in the state and alleged that the Home Ministry, headed by Mr. Fadnavis, was working in an “insensitive” manner.

The Rajya Sabha MP’s remarks came following the death of a female doctor in Satara and the murder of a 24-year-old woman by her ex-boyfriend in Mumbai.

“Devendra Fadnavis did not pay attention to the law and order situation or the safety of women in the state. His focus is on playing politics with the Opposition and using the police machinery against them,” he said.

A female doctor working in a government hospital in Satara district committed suicide on Thursday, October 23, 2025, by leaving a note in the palm of the assistant police inspector, accusing him of rape and mental harassment by a technician.

In another incident on Friday, a 24-year-old man chased his ex-girlfriend on the road, fatally stabbed her and ended her life in central Mumbai. Mr Raut claimed that such cases were becoming frequent and that the Home Ministry was working in an “insensitive manner”.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs resorts to keeping Opposition leaders under surveillance, tapping their phones and assigning police personnel to their backs. If the police are employed as servants of the party, such incidents will continue to occur,” he said.

“This is the case even though the Director General of Police of the state is a woman,” he said, referring to DGP Rashmi Shukla. Mr. Raut also said that the Home Ministry “lies dormant like a python” and the government has no control over the administration.
