Steven MacKinnon released a video in which he allows Santa Claus to deliver Christmas presents to Canada.
It is now an annual tradition for the federal Minister of Transport to release a video on Christmas Eve officially allowing Santa to travel.
This year’s video is the first to feature Prime Minister Mark Carney.
It shows Mr. Carney calling Mr. MacKinnon about an “unidentified object” spotted on radar.
Mr. MacKinnon then speaks to Santa and reminds him to stay on his flight path and take care of his reindeer.
Santa Claus is well underway on his journey around the world. Shortly before 5 p.m., his sleigh was spotted in Europe, heading towards Poland, according to NORAD radar. Santa Claus is expected around midnight in Quebec, before continuing his journey to the rest of Canada.
