Sarah Ferguson charity to close after new details of friendship with Epstein | Sarah Ferguson

Sarah Ferguson’s charity has closed after new revelations emerged about the former duchess’s friendship with convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Sarah’s Trust, the international charity launched by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ex-wife, will close “for the foreseeable future” following “several months” of discussions, according to a spokeswoman.

This follows the release of a new trove of nearly 3 million files on Epstein by the US Justice Department on Friday, offering new details about the disgraced financier’s interactions with the rich and powerful.

Among those files were other accounts of Epstein’s connection to Mountbatten-Windsor and Ferguson, formerly known as Prince Andrew. Ferguson is looking for Epstein the “brother” he “always wished for”.

A spokesperson for Sarah’s Trust said: “Our chairman, Sarah Ferguson, and the trustees have agreed with regret that the charity will close shortly for the foreseeable future. This has been discussed and worked on for several months.”

“We are extremely proud of the foundation’s work in recent years. We have partnered with more than 60 charities in more than 20 countries, delivering education, healthcare, crisis response and environmental projects.

“During the Covid pandemic, we delivered over 150,000 aid parcels and provided medical aid and education to those affected by the war. Ukrainian “We educated more than 200 children in Ghana.”

The closure of Sarah’s Trust comes after seven charities, including the Teenage Cancer Trust and the children’s hospice, previously cut ties and revoked Ferguson’s patronage over their links to Epstein.

Elsewhere in the recently released Epstein files is an email written by Ferguson. suggests that the sex offender may have had a secret child.

In the email dated September 21, 2011, Ferguson wrote: “I don’t know if you are still on this bbm but I heard you have a baby boy with Duke.”

In a separate email, Ferguson appeared angry at Epstein, accusing him of only befriending him “to get to Andrew.”

“I didn’t even know you were having a baby,” she wrote in her email. It was obvious that you were only friends with me to get to Andrew. And that really hurt me deeply (sic). More than you know.”

Further documents relating to Ferguson revealed that in March 2011, just days after Sarah told the Evening Standard she felt “deep regret” for her ties to Epstein, Epstein asked publicist Mike Sitrick to “draft a statement that Fergie would publish in an ideal world”. Then in April 2011, “Sarah” sent an email to Epstein saying she was acting to “protect my own brand.”

In August 2009, “Sarah” thanked Epstein “for being the brother I always wished for” and that she had “never been more touched by the kindness of a friend.” In April 2009, “Sarah” sent an email to Epstein, calling him “my dear amazing and special friend Jeffrey” and a “legend” and adding that she was “so proud” of him.

Sarah’s spokesperson previously said she expressed regret for her relationship with Epstein and was “not resisting” publicly condemning him.
