Saudi Arabia Snowfall: According to Gulf Times, it was reported that, although rare, the northern region of Saudi Arabia received snowfall on December 18 in the Hail region and Tabuk region around Jabal Al Lawz near the Jordanian border.

Several videos have emerged online showing people enjoying the unusual turn of events in the area known for its scorching heat and sand dunes. In the videos, people were seen dancing to traditional music and gathering with friends and family to enjoy the rare weather as the dunes turned into a beautiful white landscape under fresh snowfall.

According to the Saudi Gazette, temperatures dropped to 2°C in Tabuk, Turaif, Qurayyat, Dawadmi and Taif regions, while temperatures reached around 3°C in Sakaka and Dolu; Cold weather is expected to continue in the region in the coming days.

The Saudi National Meteorological Center warned of cold weather conditions and a sharp drop in temperatures, predicting the possibility of snowfall in the mountainous parts of Tabuk and Hail region. These conditions are due to a deep low pressure system moving across parts of the Middle East, bringing heavy rain, cold temperatures and snowfall to unexpected areas, Gulf News reported.

According to Saudi astronomer Mohammed bin Reddah Al Thaqafi, snowfall in some parts of the Kingdom during winter is not an anomaly but a recurring event. Snow is seen periodically in northern Saudi Arabia every winter, reports said, and the irregular timing is due to changing weather conditions rather than any fixed astronomical cycle.

The region witnessed unpredictable weather earlier this year, with Dubai experiencing heavy rainfall and floods, resulting in flight operations being disrupted and forcing offices to work from home. Images and videos on social media showed people wading through knee-deep water following heavy rains, followed by temperatures plummeting in the desert country.
