Saudi Bus Accident: Mecca To Madinah Journey Turns Tragic For Indian Umrah Pilgrims, 42 Feared Dead | India News

At least 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims are feared dead when a passenger bus traveling from Mecca to Medina collided with a diesel tanker in the early hours of Monday. According to preliminary information, most of the victims, including women and children, are believed to be from Hyderabad.

According to the information obtained, when the accident occurred, the group had completed their Umrah rituals in Mecca and set out for Medina. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, while authorities are still assessing the full extent of injuries.

Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over the tragic accident and instructed the Chief Secretary and DGP to collect all the details. He also instructed officials to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi Embassy to ensure the initiation of emergency relief measures.

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi expressed his sadness after the bus carrying Indian Umrah pilgrims had an accident in Saudi Arabia. Speaking to ANI, Owaisi said that he contacted two Hyderabad-based travel agencies and shared the passengers’ details with the Riyadh Embassy.

“…Forty-two pilgrims traveling from Mecca to Medina caught fire in a bus…I spoke to Abu Mathen George, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and he assured me that they were gathering information on the matter,” Owisai said.
