Save our pudding! Are these British classics on the verge of extinction?

Located on the table after a family dinner, homemade adhesive confectionery pudding is rarely greater comfort than the apple crumbled or Treacle sponge.
However, the importance of these British classics seems to be crumbled – new research argues that they are even on the threshold of extinction in the next 50 years.
The British heritage, which was once a part of the family meals, found that only 2 percent of the British households still made a daily homemade pudding rarely or never.
The research turned out to be less popular among the classic pudding, and that only 17 percent of the 25s, as their favorite dessert, called classic hot puddings, such as crumbs and steam puddings, compared to 45 percent of the 55s.

British Heritage History, Senior Curator Dr. “Sweet pudding is closely intertwined with British history, and even though our waist can benefit, I think we will all agree, it would be a great shame to die,” Andrew said.
He explained how recipes for sweetened meat pies can be found according to medieval times and Tudor and Stuart periods. He said that puddings flavored with honey or fruit are common, but many would contain meat.
The summit of England’s obsession with puddings peaked in the 1950s. However, the British Heritage said that in the 1970s, more women began to enter the labor force and caused a change in family dynamics.

Almost half of those born before 1970 said that their parents pudding several times a week, even on the hottest days of summer, while only 25 percent of those born in the 1970s.
The decline has continued since then, only 14 percent of children’s parents have puddings several times a week, and 28 percent of their parents never make homemade pudding, he says.

Today, 62 percent of British households have a pudding once or less per month, 35 percent do nothing.
Dr. Hann said: “Research has a clear change from the traditional dessert in the last 50 years. As more women entered the labor force since the 1970s, households had no time to cook and began to give priority to comfort.
“People ‘as they know’, and over time, it has led to fall from fashion with younger generations that rarely eat them.

“When I say that there is nothing we want to happen, I am sure that I am talking for most people! There is nothing better than the syrup sponge drowned with custard.
Although 36 percent of the respondents are their favorite, cold and healthier desserts are called classic hot pudding.
Fresh fruit is now the most consumed dessert, 68 percent of the people eat it, it follows it closely with 66 percent.
Although only 9 percent of people declare them their favorite, people’s frozen desserts like ice cream are more than 68 percent more than homemade traditional puddings.
In order to revive Britain’s love relationship with historical puddings, the British Heritage introduced two new ice cream flavors inspired by pudding to their sites and published a cooking book.
