SBS staff, union criticise $1,500 cash offer in lieu of pay rise

SBS staff and union representatives have criticized bosses’ offer of a one-off $1,500 pay to staff rather than a real-time pay rise, accusing the broadcaster of trying to “get this deal over the line” as it continues protracted negotiations over a new enterprise bargaining agreement.
Acting chief executive Jane Palfreyman sent a memo to staff on February 16. cricketOffering staff a “cost of living” payment in lieu of improving on a previously rejected salary offer, in addition to back pay provided management’s proposal is voted in favour.
