SC Again Issued Contempt Notices To The Speaker In BJP`s Maheshwar Reddy Petition

Hyderabad: The Supreme Court of India on Monday once again issued contempt notices to the Speaker in a matter alleging non-compliance with its earlier directions regarding disposal of disqualification petitions of defaulting MLAs.

The apex court had earlier in November last year issued a contempt notice to the Speaker for failing to decide disqualification petitions filed by BRS leaders within the stipulated time.

Fresh notices have been issued in the contempt petition filed by BJP Assembly president Aleti Maheshwar Reddy, alleging that the Speaker’s continued inaction is weakening the authority of the judiciary and delaying the resolution of a politically sensitive issue.
