SC allows Cognizant to use hexagonal logo in India until final ruling

With a relief to Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp, the Supreme Court on Monday remained part of the Supreme Court of Bombay Supreme Court, which prevented the NASDAQ list from using the hexagonal logo in India.

In August, a section of the Supreme Court of Bombay left aside a single judge’s order from June 2024 and allowed Cognizant to continue to use the logo during the trademark violation case.

On Monday, the Supreme Court Justice Dipankar Datta and R. Mahadevan remained under the temporary order of the department’s counter and directed the Supreme Court of Bombay to decide quickly in the case within six months. The upper court said that the department’s bench had left the order of the only referee counter.

This means that Teaneck, a New Jersey -based cognizant, who uses about three of the global labor in India, can continue to use the logo until the case is resolved.

Trademark dispute history

The trademark war began in 2023, when Atyati Technologies has been using an orange hexagonal honeycomb logo since 2019. Cognizant’s hexagonal honeycomb logo is blue. Both logos are quite different, but have similarities.

Cognizant claimed that Atyati has been aware of his logo since 2022, but only learned that he had learned in October 2023 when he initially sought this fact when he sought a precautionary decision.

In March 2024, a single judge of the Supreme Court of Bombay prevented Cognizant from using the logo, possible public confusion and his strong cause of Atyati. However, in June 2024, another judge lifted the ban and drew attention to records that show that Cognizant has been using the logo since 2022.

In the appeal, the Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sandep V. Marne Supreme Court of the Supreme Court of Bombay took a precautionary measure on August 26th this year.

Following this order, Cognizant stopped using the controversial logo on the website and social media huts. The company continues a detailed seven -page guide for the use of logo.

More dispute and growth concerns

This is not the first legal struggle of Cognizant in India. In recent years, the company has been involved in multiple high -profile disputes.

In September 2023, Cognizant filed a lawsuit against Jatin Dalal, former Wipro Ltd Chief Finance Manager. La25.1 On the allegation of a employment contract violation.

A similar case was opened against Mohd Ehteshamul Haque, who joined Cognizant shortly after leaving Wipro, a senior vice president in New Jersey.
