Major intersection brought to standstill as car smashes into light rail in inner-city Sydney

A car became a tram in the city Sydney and forced it to evacuate passengers and stop a busy street.

Toyota RAV4 and light rail collided in Surry Hills, Devonshire and Crown Sts before 16:00 at 16:00 and immediately stopped traffic at the crossroads.

NSW medical officers treated trams and car drivers both with slight injuries but did not require hospitalization.

RAV4 was damaged significantly while the tram was damaged in the nose of the tram and withdrew after the accident.
