Scottish League Cup final: Defining day of destiny awaits St Mirren & Celtic

St Mirren coach Stephen Robinson said: “Of course there will be a nervous energy. We are not Celtic who have been to every cup final or every cup final.
“So we have to embrace the day and enjoy the day, but the most important thing I would say is faith rather than fear. Really believe in the system, in each other, in the squad and in the things we put in in preparation.
“Here we see photos of teams that are very, very successful and win trophies, and they are very respected. I want to say to the players, ‘We want your names there, we want your photos there.’
“They have prepared their photos for the European successes and the top six successes, now we want them too [for winning the cup]. “We want them to be remembered and recognized wherever they go throughout their lives.”
St Mirren defender Marcus Fraser: “In 10, 20 years, people will probably still be talking about it.” [a win] and of course you can write your own chapter in the history of the club.
“I think that’s one of the big things we want to do, grab the opportunity with both hands and if we can get over that wall then it’ll be a great feeling when you walk past it in a few years.”
Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy: “Yes, I would like to win the cup. I’m sure it will be difficult if we don’t, because when we lose it is painful.
“But I’m still optimistic as a person. I hope we do it. And also if it validates that we did it. But if not, I don’t want to think about it because for now I want to stay positive and think that way.”
“I’ll have a lot of time to perform, do my job, and convince my fans that I’m the right guy.”
Celtic midfielder Luke McCowan: “As a team we are disappointed with the last two results and we need to get over it.
“We have to [stick by Nancy]There is no other way. He is the coach, his team is with him, we are the players of this club. He is the one who will lead us to victory with the style and management he wants.
“We hope that once it clicks it will lead us to the performance we need and most importantly to win games.”
