Scottsdale mayor’s chief of staff fired over unprofessional behavior, insubordination and more, report details
Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky’s chief of staff, R. Lamar Whitmer, has been fired amid multiple allegations made against him, according to an investigative report obtained by 12News.
Borowsky said he was notified by the city that Whitmer had been terminated after a 65-day investigation.
“I do not condone inappropriate conversation in the workplace, have not witnessed it, and will not tolerate it,” the mayor said in a statement. he said.
The report cites allegations that he engaged in unprofessional conduct, insubordination, political activity violations, conflicts of interest, abuse of position and potential misuse of city resources.
Witnesses reported repeated inappropriate remarks toward staff, including sexual innuendo, race/ethnicity, and derogatory humor, which Whitmer partially acknowledged.
The report says his comments violated city policies regarding workplace standards and ethical conduct.
Multiple people, including Whitmer, were interviewed throughout the investigation.
