SDPI blames LDF, UDF for BJP’s third term in Palakkad

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has said that the third consecutive term of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Palakkad municipality was made possible thanks to the “hypocritical attitudes of both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF)” despite the party lacking a majority.
SDPI leader Muhammad Ilyas said here on Saturday that the BJP came to power in Palakkad municipality despite holding only 25 of the 53 seats in the council due to blatant political hypocrisy of both LDF and UDF.
He said LDF and UDF can keep the BJP out of power by supporting an Independent candidate for the mayoral post. “But unfortunately, both fronts took a stance that indirectly helped the BJP,” he said.
Mr. Ilyas accused the LDF and UDF of effectively allowing fascist forces to remain in power despite their vocal criticism of fascism. “BJP’s continued rule in Palakkad is no coincidence; it reflects the political opportunism of both UDF and LDF,” he said.
