Secrets of Coleen Rooney’s 40th birthday party and the ‘Wagatha Christie’ ways she avoided leaks… with guests kept in the dark until the last minute

Coleen Rooney celebrated her 40th birthday in true Wagatha Christie style; Tight security was in place at his £20million mansion and guests were only told of the party theme at the last minute.
Miss Rooney, who earned the nickname after revealing fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy had passed stories about her to the tabloids, was confident there would be no leaks from the party on Friday night.
A source close to the wife of former England footballer Wayne Rooney, 40, told The Mail on Sunday: ‘He has been incredibly careful about everything, in true Wagatha Christie style.
‘Coleen runs a tight ship and if there’s one thing she’s strict about it’s releasing information, so she keeps all the details under lock and key until the right moment. We didn’t even know the theme until the day of the party.
‘It’s not that he doesn’t trust his friends, but he’s been betrayed before; He will certainly never be betrayed again.’
Some 80 guests handed over their phones at the door to ensure no photos were leaked and so Ms Rooney could have the final say on what was published.
He was so good at keeping it secret that his neighbors on the edge of his large Cheshire estate didn’t know about it.
One of them told the MoS: ‘I didn’t even know you were having a party. It’s great to have them here and it’s never a problem.’

Should celebrities go to extreme lengths to protect their private celebrations from media leaks?
The celebrations began at 7pm, with Rooney’s former Manchester United team-mates Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Darren Fletcher arriving promptly.
As guests flocked to a large tent, a helicopter landed on the freshly mown lawn.
Peter Crouch’s wife, WAG member Abbey Clancy, entered, chatting animatedly before Kyle Walker’s pregnant wife, Annie Kilner, emerged alone at around 8pm.
Leanne Brown, the ex-wife of Wayne’s former teammate Wes, Irish singer Dermot Kennedy, former Stoke City and Burnley defender Phil Bardsley and his wife Tanya, and former Manchester United defender Phil Jones and his wife Kaya Hall were also there.
Ms. Rooney dazzled in her long-sleeved, floor-length, high-collared mauve dress as she greeted all her guests at the entrance of the tent.
The theme was pastel and the frame was a sea of pink and white decorations, including hundreds of roses. A balloon arch with the number 40 on it was installed and guests took photos next to it.
But the people who mattered most to the Rooneys were their sons Kai, 16, Klay, 12, Kit, 10, and Cass, 8.
A friend told the MoS: ‘Family always comes first with Coleen and so it was important her sons were included in the party!’
Older son Kai carried a bouquet of flowers across the tent to congratulate his mother on her big day. Guests were still dancing to the live band at 2 a.m.
As they were leaving, they were shown to a fleet of chauffeur-driven, blacked-out minibuses to take them to their accommodation.
Rooney paid tribute to his wife in a series of posts on Instagram, writing: ‘Happy 40th birthday to the best wife and mother we could wish for. We can’t wait to celebrate with you and love you as much as the whole world.’
But while Mrs Rooney planned a surprise celebration for her husband of 18 years for his 40th birthday last October, she stayed away from anything birthday-related for fear of disappointing his wife.
Ms Rooney said: ‘He always uses the excuse of ‘That wouldn’t be good enough for you’. He’s not really a planner, so he’ll say: ‘There’s no point in me doing this because you want to do it yourself.’
The Rooneys, who are now worth a combined £200 million, have known each other since they were 12, having grown up on the same housing estate in Liverpool.
