The fire that broke out at Banaswadi Police Station on Wednesday, damaging more than 20 vehicles, may have been an isolated incident, but several other police stations in the city are also vulnerable to similar dangers.
Thousands of seized vehicles are gathering dust on the police station premises and even on the footpaths outside police stations in the city. “Several police station buildings look like garages or abandoned land. Some of the vehicles are almost a decade old,” said a senior officer from the northern division.
