Five family members, including 4 children, found dead in Sikar; suicide by consuming poison suspected

Five members of a family, including a woman and her four children, were found dead in an apartment in Rajasthan’s Sikar district, police officials said on Saturday.

According to police, the matter came to light after residents of Anirudh Residency complained about a bad smell coming from an apartment that was reportedly locked for several days.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Suresh Sharma while talking to reporters said, “…We received a complaint from Anirudh Residency that a flat was locked for days and foul smell was coming from inside… We checked and found the bodies of five members of the family… The forensic team has been called to collect samples; further investigation is on.”

Police officials have not yet announced the cause of death and are awaiting forensic examination and autopsy reports.

In a separate incident in Sirathu, Uttar Pradesh, a woman was killed after her throat was allegedly slit by Balbeer Singh Patel on October 8. Patel was later arrested when confronted by police.

Circle Officer Sirathu Satendra Tiwari informed that the police team analyzed the CCTV footage of the crime following which the accused was arrested. Authorities seized the murder weapon, the motorcycle, and the victim’s cell phone from the defendant.

“On October 8, a woman was killed by having her throat slit in Sirathu… The police team tasked with the investigation analyzed the CCTV footage and interrogated the people and based on this, Balbeer Singh Patel was arrested after an encounter. The murder weapon was seized along with a motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone,” Tiwari told reporters. Tiwari told reporters.

Additionally, during the encounter, the defendant shot at the police and was shot in the leg during retaliatory fire. The person, who was hospitalized for treatment, will be referred to the courthouse on Friday.

“During the encounter, he shot at the police and a bullet hit his leg during the police’s return fire… He was arrested and sent to treatment, he will be brought to the courthouse today… He only planned and carried out the crime. He was the victim’s lover before marriage.” he said.
