Some dealers have reportedly issued a fix for affected vehicles that involves manually resetting the alarm units.
The Rolf dealership first began reporting an increase in service requests on Nov. 28, according to RBC.
“There are currently no connections for all models and types of internal combustion engines,” Rolf’s service director, Yulia Trushkova, told the publication.
“Any vehicle can be blocked. At this time, the blocking can be overcome by resetting and removing the factory alarm unit. We continue to investigate the issue and options for technicians to unlock the vehicles.”
The issue affects all models manufactured after 2013 and equipped with an anti-theft Vehicle Tracking System (VTS).
When the satellite connection is lost, VTS interprets this as a potential theft attempt and immobilizes the engine.
“The Porsche Vehicle Tracking System is designed to operate seamlessly in a discreet manner, eliminating the need for daily activation and deactivation,” the automaker’s website states.
