Senior advocate shot dead in Odisha’s Berhampur

Senior lawyer and BJP leader Pitabash Panda was shot and killed by unidentified men near Odisha’s residence in Berhampur on Monday, October 6, 2025.

The incident occurred in the town of Brahma Nagar.

Panda, who is also a member of the Odisha State Bar Association Council, was previously associated with the congress.

According to the police, the man of two bicycles was allegedly fired at a distance close to him while standing on the roadside. He was taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital and declared that the doctors were dead.

Police said the reason behind the attack is still under investigation.

After hearing the attack with a few BJP leaders, the State Trade and Transportation Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, who ran to the Faculty of Medicine and the hospital, condemned the incident.
