Dishwashers were created for the purpose of washing everyday items such as plates, knives, and forks, but there are also some surprising items that can be cleaned in machines. Some items, like wooden spoons, cutting boards, and insulated mugs or water bottles, should never be placed inside due to wear and tear, but one TikTok user shared some odd items that can be cleaned.

Posting under the handle @anna_louisa_at_home, the cleaning and home creator posted a short video of seven things that can be placed in the machine. These products included cleaning sponges, plastic children’s toys, silicone phone cases, vases and even aspirator filters.

However, the seventh item Anna put in the dishwasher was a hairbrush, which surprised other TikTok users.

One user said: “What a clever idea. Can’t wait for my partner to open the dishwasher for random things.” Anna replied: “hahaha that will be the best response.”

Another user added: “OMG hairbrush?!!!! This is music to my ears!!!”

A fourth viewer called Anna a “genius” while a fourth said the video “blown her mind”.

One commenter was concerned about Anna’s video, asking “what about the hair?” he asked, but Anna responded to make it clear that she had pulled out all the hair beforehand.

Another commenter shared what they use the dishwasher for and said: “You can put dirty alligators in it. [in there]They’re just coming out.”
