Keaton and Allen, who were romantically involved and had a long-standing professional relationship, first worked together in the 1969 Broadway production. Play Sam again. They worked together on eight films between 1971 and 1993 and remained close friends.

The film, also directed by Beatty, traces the true story of American journalist John Reed, who covered the October Revolution, the second of two revolutions led by Vladimir Lenin’s Bolsheviks in Russia. Keaton plays Louise Bryant, an American journalist and suffragist who joins Reed and a community of activists in New York.
The film won Best Director and Best Cinematography at the Academy Awards and earned Keaton a Best Actress nomination. It was performed at the White House for then-president Ronald Reagan.

Father of the Bride (1991)

In 1991, Keaton starred opposite Steve Martin and Martin Short in the family favorite. Father of the BrideIt is a remake of the 1950 movie of the same name. The second of his four films with American director Nancy Meyers (Baby Boom, Something’s Gotta Give And Father of the Bride II), Keaton plays Nina Banks, a steady and devoted mother and wife who supports her husband George (Steve Martin), who begins to unravel after the news of his daughter’s engagement.
The film was a critical and box office success, leading to a sequel in 1995.
First Wives Club (1996)

In 1996, Keaton starred opposite Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler. First Wives ClubA comedy about the story of three divorced men who want to take revenge on their husbands who abandoned them to young women.

In the film, Keaton’s character, Annie, is separated from her advertising executive husband, is in therapy for self-esteem issues, and is hopeful the two will reconcile.
The film, which grossed US$181 million worldwide, was a huge success at the box office and gained a cult following among middle-aged women.

In 1996, Keaton starred in Jerry Zaks’ drama. Marvin’s Room She stars as Bessie, her father Martin’s primary caregiver. When she is diagnosed with leukemia, the same disease that killed her mother, she turns to her estranged sister Lee (Meryl Streep) for help. A young Leonardo DiCaprio also plays Lee’s teenage son.
A. New York Times review he suggested at the time that the film’s “strong cast” added depth to the screen adaptation and praised Keaton’s performance.
“Miss Keaton does wonders by making Bessie much more than an advert for noble sacrifice, but she still has to do quite a few metaphorical smiles between her tears,” he said.
For her performance, Keaton was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actress, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role.
Something’s Gotta Give (2003)

Keaton’s comedic chops shine in his fourth project, thanks to his long-standing close working relationship with Nancy Myers on the 2003 romantic comedy. Something’s Gotta Give.
In the film, Keaton plays a middle-aged playwright who develops a relationship with veteran playboy Harry, played by Jack Nicholson, who refuses to accept his age. Set against the backdrop of a beach house in the Hamptons (featuring Meyers’ signature neutral-toned interior), the duo stars alongside other Hollywood stars like Keanu Reeves and Frances McDormand.
Keaton wrote in his memoirs that the film became a favorite even though he was initially certain it would fail (he received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor as testament to his performance).
