Honduras beat Haiti to take top spot in World Cup qualifying group

Honduras, which currently has two wins and two draws, tops the group with two qualifying matches remaining in November, while Haiti has fallen to second place with one win and two draws. The revamped qualifying format sees the final 12 CONCACAF teams divided into three groups, with the winner of each group advancing directly to the World Cup. The two best runners-up will advance to the intercontinental play-offs for a chance at qualification.

Anthony Lozano doubled the lead in the 26th minute and headed home from Luis Palma’s set-up, while Romell Quioto sealed the result with a close-range strike in the 40th minute, giving Honduras a 3-0 first half advantage that they comfortably maintained.
