Shah Rukh Khan’s King and Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal-starrer Love and War to copy Dhurandhar’s strategy?

The makers of Siddharth Anand’s King, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, may take advantage of the success of Dhurandhar to split the films and adopt a two-part strategy.
King and Love to War will adopt Dhurandhar’s strategy
Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar has been experiencing a huge boom at the box office ever since its release. Even after nearly a month, the film shows no signs of losing momentum and continues to dominate the ticket booths. The first part will hit the theaters on December 5 and the second part will be released on March 19 and it has already become one of the most awaited Bollywood movies. The makers of Siddharth Anand’s King, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, may take advantage of the success of Dhurandhar to split the films and adopt a two-part release strategy.
A source was quoted as telling Bollywood Hungama, “Both The King and Love and War are big budget shows and have gone beyond what appears on paper when it comes to production cost. Since Dhurandhar has set a trend, both SRK and Bhansali are individually considering splitting their epics into two parts and releasing it in less than 6 months.” While King is planned to be released in September 2026 and its sequel in March 2027, Love and War is planned to be released in August 2026 and the second part is planned to be released in January 2027.
“This will happen only if the two daredevil actors have enough footage to split their film into two parts. Currently, both of them are shooting for the film and these are just preliminary discussions while we examine the success of Dhurandhar. A final call on whether the films should come in one piece or two parts will be taken on the editing table,” the source added.
Many filmmakers are now developing narratives in expanded formats keeping the two-part structure in mind. This approach goes beyond financial gains from satellite and digital rights, offering producers more creative freedom to delve into layered subplots and character arcs, industry insiders say. Dhurandhar has sparked a change in mindset among creatives and business leaders, opening up new storytelling possibilities. All in all, the next few months will be very exciting and dramatic.
