Prince William reveals US visit plans with telling message | Royal | News

The Prince of Wales has revealed he will travel directly to the US if England reach the World Cup final, adding that the team “will win”. Prince William opened up about his love of football in a podcast hosted by Taylor Swift’s fiancé Travis Kelce. The interview aired hours before the American football player married his superstar fiancée at Madison Square Garden in New York, but there was no mention of the marriage on air and only a passing reference to Swift.

In a pre-recorded chat a few days after England’s first World Cup match against Croatia, Travis’ brother Jason Kelce, who co-hosts the New Heights podcast, asked William: “What do you think about a successful World Cup for England?” “I’m thinking of winning,” the future king replied, and when asked if he would “go across the pond” if England made it all the way, he said: “Absolutely. If we get to the final.”

Jason said: “It’s the World Cup. You guys are obviously going to have a big game against Croatia. What do you think of a successful World Cup for England?”

William replied: “I’m thinking of winning.”

Travis later added: “It’s the easiest thing. I got it. He got it. They made it to the finals. You’re going to make the trip across the pond.”

William revealed: “Absolutely. If we make it to the final.”

Travis then said: “Oh, I love this, man.”

The prince added: “Well, maybe. Maybe. I’ll see you both there in the final.”

When asked how his passion for Premier League club Aston Villa began, William made himself and the podcast hosts burst into laughter when he joked that Charles didn’t like football.

He added: “My family doesn’t have a very long history with football. There are a few of us who support the teams. My love of football came from my friends taking me to my first match and growing up at school you can’t avoid football conversations, it’s everywhere.”
