Mahindra & Mahindra acquires 58.96% stake in SML Isuzu, renames it ‘SML Mahindra Limited’
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has purchased a 58.96 percent share in SML ISÜZU Ltd. The company was renamed SML Mahindra Limited. Strategic acquisition, La555 Crore, Mahindra’s previous Sumitomo Corporation and Isüzu Motors Ltd.
New Leadership and Re -marking on the horizon
While Mahindra takes over the ownership of SML Isusu, the company will witness changes in leadership and branding.
The company will be renamed ‘SML Mahindra Limited, a movement that is currently waiting for the necessary regulatory approval.
Meanwhile, the company has also announced the key leadership appointments to guide its new operations:
- Vinod Sahay was appointed as the executive chairman of the newly established company under the direction of Mahindra. Sahay joined M&M in 2015 after 17 years with Tata Motors.
- Venkat Srinivas was appointed as the Executive Director of SML and the Chairman of the Executive Board. Srinivas is currently serving as M & M’s truck and bus segment work chairman. Previously, Ashok Leyland and Ford Motor Company in the United States were leading positions.
Background of the agreement
In April 2025, Mahindra and Mahindra and SML ISUUSU made an agreement to buy 58.96 percent of SML’s shares of 58.96 percent of the share price. La650.
