Shimla, Jammu, Kullu, Dehradun and other tourist cities to see weather shift as IMD predicts rain and gusty winds in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon & Gaziabad

According to the IMD statement, changing atmospheric conditions and western disturbances are expected to affect the weather in many regions this week.

Weather in Delhi Today: Partly Cloudy Skies with Strong Surface Winds
Today (March 16), the weather in Delhi is expected to remain partly cloudy and strong surface winds will occur during the day.
IMD said the wind speed could reach 20-30 km/h, especially in the afternoon hours.
- Maximum temperature: 31°C to 33°C
- Minimum temperature: 14°C to 16°C
While minimum temperatures are expected to remain close to normal in most places, maximum temperatures may remain slightly above normal in several parts of Delhi.
Surface winds are expected to blow from the southeast in the morning, gradually change direction towards the northwest in the afternoon, and weaken in the evening.
Weather in Delhi Tomorrow: Similar Conditions Likely on March 17
On March 17, the weather in Delhi is expected to remain partly cloudy and strong winds will continue throughout the day.
IMD forecast shows:
- Maximum temperature: 31°C to 33°C
- Minimum temperature: 15°C to 17°C
Wind speeds can reach 15-25 km per hour, mostly from the east, gradually easing during the evening and night.
Weather in Delhi on March 18: Light Rain and Thunderstorms Possible
The weather in Delhi on March 18 may turn more volatile with IMD predicting generally cloudy skies and light rain or drizzle.
In the evening or at night, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds of 20-30 km per hour and up to 40 km per hour may occur.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the following ranges:
- Maximum temperature: 32°C to 34°C
- Minimum temperature: 17°C to 19°C
Weather Across India: Storms and Rain Expected in Various Regions
IMD has warned of widespread weather activity in many parts of India beyond Delhi.
Lightning storms and wind gusts reaching 30-50 km/h are likely in the following areas:
- Ganges West Bengal
- bihar
- jharkhand
- Odisha
- Chhattisgarh
- vidarbha
In some areas, gusty winds reaching 50-70 km per hour may also be witnessed along with hailstorms on March 16, especially in the eastern states.
Weather in Northeast India: Heavy Rain Warning Issued
IMD has also predicted fairly widespread rainfall in Northeast India in the next few days.
States likely to see light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms include:
- Arunachal Pradesh
- Assam and Meghalaya
- Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura
Heavy rainfall is expected in Assam and Meghalaya from March 15 to 17; Isolated heavy rain is also expected in Arunachal Pradesh during the same period.
Weather in Western Himalayan Region: Possibility of Snowfall and Hailstorm
The IMD forecast also highlights scattered rainfall and snowfall between March 15 and 21 in the Western Himalayan region, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Some regions may experience thunderstorms, lightning and hail, especially at the beginning of the week.
Temperature Trends Across India
According to IMD, temperature conditions in the last 24 hours remained significantly above normal in many regions.
Highest temperature: 41.6°C recorded in Akola, Vidarbha
Daytime temperatures ranged from 38°C to 41°C in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the lowest minimum temperature in the plains was recorded in Alwar, Rajasthan, at 10.3°C.
