Shiv Pratap Shukla is new Telangana Governor

Shiv Pratap Shukla, currently serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed as the new Governor of Telangana.

He will replace Jishnu Dev Varma, who is serving as the Governor of Telangana. Mr. Varma will now take charge in Maharashtra as part of the latest changes announced by President Droupadi Murmu.

Mr. Shukla served as Minister of State for Finance in the Narendra Modi government from 2017 to 2019. He represented Uttar Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha from July 2016 to July 2022.

He won as MLA from Gorakhpur Urban constituency for four consecutive terms starting from 1989. He held various ministerial posts in the Uttar Pradesh government, including Rural Development, Prisons and Basic Education.
