Shiv Pratap Shukla sworn in as Telangana Governor

The recently appointed Telangana Governor Shiv Prakash Shukla took over on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Mr. Shukla was administered the oath of office by Telangana High Court Chief Justice Aparash Kumar Singh at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Hyderabad this morning.
He replaced Jishnu Dev Varma, who was appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra in the latest reshuffle by the Central Government.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Director General of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy, Ministers, MLAs, MPs and others were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Mr. Shukla has a long political career spanning nearly four decades. A four-time MLA of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha and served as Minister of State for Finance during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first tenure.
