Sinner Reclaims NO. 1 Ranking After Beating Auger-Aliassime In Paris Masters Final

PARIS: Jannik Sinner regained the first place in men’s tennis by defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime with sets of 6-4, 7-6 (4) in the Paris Masters final held on Sunday.

The four-time Grand Slam champion from Italy replaced six-time major champion Carlos Alcaraz, extending his indoor winning streak to 26 matches and taking top spot after his first Paris title in Vienna last Sunday.

Seeded ninth, Auger-Aliassime needed to win the tournament at La Défense Arena to secure the eighth and final seed at the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, Italy.

But he failed to trouble Sinner in a one-sided contest in which Sinner was at his clinical best and won his fifth title of the year and the 23rd of his career.

Sinner won his first match point with a hard backhand with both hands, tilting his head back and raising his arms. He then caressed his heart as he waved his racket to the crowd.
