Sivaganga custodial death case: CBI gets six weeks to complete probe into custodial death case

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the Madurai Madurai counter, the Madurai counter, gave a six -week Central Investigation Office (CBI) to complete the investigation into the custody of the temple security guards B. Ajith Kumar in the Thirupuvanam in Sivaganga region.
Justice Anita Sumanth and C. Kumarappan’s division counter also directed the CBI to complete the investigation into the theft of jewelry attached to the case and presented the final report in both cases.
The court listened to the petitions of public interest in the case. The petitions sought a direction to the state government to provide sufficient compensation to the victim’s relative and to take action against faulty police officials. They also called a CBI or SIT ProBU.
Ajith Kumar was a temporary security employee at the Badrakali Temple of Badrakali in Madapuram.
On June 27, Nikitha and his mother of Thirumangalam in the Madurai region visited the temple. Nikitha said that he had delivered his car keys to Ajith Kumar and wanted to park the vehicle and help his mother who had difficulty walking. When they come back, it is claimed that they find their bags open in the car and the golden ornaments in it are missing. Ajith was taken for casino inquiry. He died during the interrogation on June 28th.
The state government transferred the investigation to the CBI.
5 police staff were kept
Five police staff in the case – Prabhu, Kannan, Sankara Manikan, Raja and Anand – were arrested. Ramachandran (police driver) was chosen as the defendant.
The government paid 7.5 lakh compensation to the Ajith Kumar family. Later, a court was delivered to the family with additional compensation to the family in accordance with the direction of a court.
