Sivankutty lauds teachers for humanitarian role

General Education Minister V. Sivankutty praised the teachers who ensured the safety of a Class 6 student and his mother who were forcibly evicted from their home following a dispute at Thirumarady near Ernakulam’s Koothattukulam.

The incident occurred during a routine counseling session at the school and teachers noticed signs of distress in the student, the minister said in a Facebook post. Later investigation revealed that the child and his mother lived in a shack in the forest after having to leave their home.

The school principal and teachers intervened to ensure the safety of the mother and child. Thanks to their coordinated efforts, the family managed to return home safely.

Mr. Sivankutty lauded the incident as a strong example of Kerala’s public education system’s commitment not only to academic education but also to the welfare and protection of students.

He also praised the effective coordination between school officials, police and Childline, who will continue to monitor the child’s situation to ensure long-term safety and support.
