Snow gritters dispatched to stop roads from melting in sweltering heatwave

Gritters, which normally used to protect drivers in winter conditions, can cause the hot wave to melt this summer.
Central Bedfordshire Council said the district used Gitters to spread crushed stones to protect the road surfaces.
“Central Bedfordshire’s parts of Central Bedfordshire are experiencing very high surface temperatures,” he said in an article on Facebook.
“When this happens, the asphalt may begin to soften, which can lead to surface damage.”
When temperatures rise to the middle of 30Cs, road surfaces can heat up to 50C in sunlight.
According to the road surface treatments, the road surfaces made of asphalt typically can begin to melt at this temperature.
Since the road surfaces absorb heat throughout the day, they can melt even when the air temperature falls to 20C at the end of the day.
As Britain broke a record in the hottest June, concerns about road conditions are coming.
Other parts of Europe are also faced with the heat wave with rising temperatures. It is exacerbated by a heat dome.
Amber warnings are now available in various parts of the UK, which shows that health and social care services will be significantly affected by heat.
“We send Gritters to spread a thin layer of crushed stones. This helps to protect the road surface and provides extra grip for vehicles,” he said.
“You may not expect to see the gritters in the summer, but it is an important part of looking at our ways in extreme weather conditions.”
