Snow map pinpoints all cities hit by brutal 247-mile wall of blizzards | Weather | News

Britons are set to see heavy snowfall in just a few days. Latest maps show large amounts of snow will fall across the UK, with 19 cities seeing wintry conditions. The wall of snow coming from the Atlantic will stretch more than 200 miles and quickly spread across the country. WXCHARTS maps show patches of snow outlined in white that will hit the UK on Tuesday 27 January. By 12 noon, North Wales, the whole of Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland will see up to 55cm of snow. In England, snow will be seen in Cumbria, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Blackpool and Yorkshire.

Starting from 15.00, rain will be seen in other regions. Maps show that most areas will see rain, with only a few areas avoiding wet weather.

Areas that will be drier include Cornwall, Devon and South Wales. The Met Office’s five-day forecast says rain or hills snow will affect parts of central and eastern Scotland today, but mostly dry, sunny weather will prevail across eastern England.

In other regions, there will be frequent showers or longer-lasting rains. It will be windy for everyone, and for some the storm will gradually ease. Later tonight, conditions will deteriorate, particularly in the west, and more rain or showers are expected northwards.

In the east it will be mostly dry, but mostly cloudy. The rain and snow on the hills will ease in the north-east of Scotland.

On Sunday, the weather will be cloudy for many people and there will be rain or showers.

There will then be a few bright breaks where many areas will dry out. Snowfall on the hills is likely in parts of north-east Scotland.
