Snow maps show 18 UK cities facing blizzards before Thursday – full list | Weather | News

Cold weather will reach the UK next week and many cities are expected to be covered in snow before Thursday. Warmer spring weather seemed to be on the way, but now winter conditions will return.

Maps from forecaster WXCHARTS show snow will first hit Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland and the north-west coast of England on Tuesday, March 24. Snow will be seen in Manchester, Carlisle and Glasgow. Snow will spread across England on Wednesday 25 March, with snow likely to be seen in Stoke-on-Trent, Sheffield and Newcastle.

There will be no snow in Northern Ireland but maps show the Welsh coastline is purple, indicating snowfall.

The south of England looks set to be largely spared from snow, but it won’t be completely dry as large amounts of rain will pelt the south of the country.

Maps show that by 9pm on Tuesday much of the east coast will be covered in rain, extending as far as Southampton and Brighton.

Separately, Met Office forecasts say the weather will become unstable next week.

It is stated that for this evening and tonight, the cloud band will weaken and will continue to move towards the southeast tonight, with occasional rain and clear precipitation on both sides.

It is stated that heavy rains will affect the far north and partial frost will develop in rural areas under clearer skies.

For Monday it says: “A cool start with some sunshine, particularly in the south. Clouds will thicken in the north as bands of rain and strong winds move into Scotland and Northern Ireland.”

From Tuesday to Thursday, it says: “On Tuesday, rain moves south, making it colder. Windy, sunny and showery through the middle of the week, falling as sleet and snow in parts of the north.”
