Snow maps show blizzard hitting 564-mile stretch of Britain with 51 counties to be covered | Weather | News

Britons will face huge amounts of snow across the country, with much of the UK covered, according to weather maps. Snow will cover most areas, with 51 counties in England and Scotland expected to be affected. A few places will be missed; Maps covered in purple show where the snow will hit the hardest.

By 6pm on Monday, January 26, WXCHARTS maps show the snow will extend over a huge 564-mile stretch, from the Scottish Highlands to Birmingham. Maps Snowfall will cover the UK at midnight on 27 January and From Scotland to the north of England.

Up to 15cm of snow is expected, with the deepest levels in the Cairngorms National Park.

According to maps, rain is expected to hit across the UK at midnight on Wednesday, January 28. Maps show that most of the country will be drenched in rain, with only a few small areas avoiding it.

London, Norfolk and the south-east coast, as well as Ayr in Scotland, will avoid rain.

The Met Office’s forecasts say: “Slowly developing weather conditions around the UK are most favored during this period, with low pressure generally to the west or south-west and high pressure near or over Scandinavia.

“Areas of rain or showers will attempt to move particularly towards some western and south-western parts of the UK, but are likely to make limited progress eastwards.

“Longer, drier interludes will most likely be in the east and northeast, but could potentially be quite cloudy at times.

“There is likely to be a gradual trend towards colder conditions during this period, particularly in the south and east.

“Therefore, although winter precipitation will initially be allocated more to the hills, it may be more likely to fall to lower levels later in this period.”
