An arctic blizzard will hit the UK within two weeks as temperatures drop to -3C, according to weather maps. Snow and rain will affect half of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland at 18.00 on November 4th.
Up to 3cm of snow will settle in the north of Scotland, covering much of the country, according to weather maps from WXCharts. The snow will extend as far as Leeds and turn into a rain barrage over Manchester and Liverpool, with rainfall of up to 3 mm per hour. Although the south of England is predicted to remain dry, it will not be spared from icy cold temperatures.
The forecast predicts that temperatures will drop below freezing in many parts of Scotland and England at midnight on 5 November, creating a risk of icing.
The lowest temperature around Glencoe in the west of Scotland is expected to be -3C, with temperatures remaining at or below freezing in the rest of the country.
in england, Northumberland Lowest temperatures in Cumbria and Cumbria will be icy cold at -1C, while in the Midlands temperatures are forecast to be between 2-3C and the south coast will also freeze, dropping to 0C in Kent, 1C in Norfolk and 2C in the south-west.
The temperature in Wales or Northern Ireland will not drop below zero overnight, but the average temperature in Wales will be between 2-3C and in Northern Ireland it may drop to 2C.
According to the Met Office’s long-term forecast between 4-18 November, this period will bring “variable and unstable” weather systems radiating from the west.
The statement said: “These will bring heavy rain at times and strong winds interspersed with drier, brighter and less windy periods between systems. Temperatures are expected to be near or perhaps slightly above normal.”
